Motivational Workshop

A Peer Facilitated Motivational Workshop for the beneficiaries of the College Midday Meals Scheme was organized on Saturday, 29 June, 2019 at 1.30 pm in AR 803. More than 350 students participated in the Workshop.

The programme began with a brief formal function. Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, the Rector, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, the Principal and the Chief Guest, Prof. Precilla D’Silva, former Dean of Biological Sciences, Directors of the different Blocks were present on the dais.

Principal, Dr Praveen Martis made the initial remarks and elaborated the purpose of the workshop. He welcomed all the students and urged them to take the best advantage of the workshop. Rector of Aloysian Institutions, Rev. Fr Dion Vaz said that the objective of Jesuit education always has been empowerment of the marginalized in various ways. He encouraged students to grow in self-esteem and confidence so that they can give something later to their less privileged brothers and sisters.

Prof. Precilla D’Silva, in her motivational talk, explained the importance of education in empowering people. She said that the participating students were, lucky to have got an opportunity to learn at St Aloysius. She referred to some world renowned stories of successful people in spite of the debilitating circumstances.


The second part of the programme was an intensive workshop on familiarizing with one another, Self- awareness and self- esteem. The entire participating group was divided into 2 teams. After a session of Icebreakers in the form of group dynamics activities, the teams were further divided into 10 smaller groups. 25 Student volunteers from various streams assisted the resource persons in conducting the activities. Dr Alwyn D’Sa and Mr Dheraj Sequiera were the resource persons. Directors met the students from their respective Blocks, elected 2 leaders from each faculty who will be liaison with the Directors for future plans and programmes.

In the Group discussion that followed, each of the students was encouraged to share his/her needs and requirements in the college. The list was collected from the groups and the same will be tabulated and submitted to the authorities for follow up.
