St Aloysius College celebrates 138th college day

St Aloysius College (Autonomous), celebrated its 138th annual day, also marking the 450th birth anniversary of its patron St Aloysius Gonzaga, here on Friday.

The chief guest of the programme Albert W D'Souza, chairman, Aldel Education Trust, Maharashtra, called upon students to always work hard, make the best use of time, so that they could gain whatever they want in life. "Talent should provide a bread winning career, for which the three words are time, energy and money,” he added.

The programme had its variety display of cultural act. The theme for this year was "Sabrang - Celebrating Cultural Diversities". The event began with a colourful cultural display. President of the event Fr Dionysius Vas SJ, Rector of Aloysius Institutions, said, "Sensuality and violence are challenged by the service rendered by St Aloysius College.”

Display of nine cultural dance performances was the highlight of the variety entertainment that followed. Over 200 students were awarded for their achievements in various fields. A theme song for the occasion was composed by the students of the college themselves. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of the college, Precilla D'Silva, and Rajgopal Bhat, conveners, Aman Ahmed, president of Students' Council, vice principals, staff, students along with their parents were present for the event.
