Workshop on Legal Literacy

The Human Rights Cell in collaboration with Department of Political Science conducted a workshop on Legal Literacy commemorating Human Rights Day on December 9, 2017.Rev. Dr Melwyn S Pinto S. J., the Director of Radio Sarang, inaugurated the gathering laying emphasis on how students and common people can actively participate in governance through a simple procedure like Right to Information. Dr Rose Veera D’Souza was the guest of honour. While speaking on ‘Criminal Justice in India’ Advocate S. P. Chengappa, chief guest of the programme said that laws affect us from birth to death and later too. He explained in particular the Karnataka University Act that governs our students. Meanwhile Advocate Udayananda A. focussed on the important freedoms of Article 19 while addressing on ‘Right to Information and Property Rights in India’. Assistant Professor of SDM law College,Ravindra Rajput enlightened the students on Right to Privacy in cyberage.
