Admission for Master in Biochemistry
Biochemistry offers the tremendous challenge of seeking to understand the most fundamental of life's processes at the molecular level, and to utilise this knowledge for the benefit of mankind. Recognising the tremendous opportunities the science offers, St. Aloysius College ventured into the field of Biochemistry as the first college in Dakshinna Kannada District to start an undergraduate course the year 1999 and the M.Sc. Biochemistry course affiliated to Mangalore Universtity in the year 2008.

Objectives

  • To generate manpower trained in Biochemistry suited to meet the needs of the research institutions/industry/academia.
  • To have a positive impact on human and animal health, agriculture and environment in the region.
  • To have 100% placement for all students who take up this course.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have studied Biochemistry/Chemistry as optional/major/special subject along with any two of the following subjects - Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacognocy and Chemistry as major/optional/minor/subsidiary subject as the undergraduate level are eligible to apply. The students are admitted based on their performance at the entrance test conducted by St. Aloysius College
Admission Guidelines 2011 - 2012 for Post Graduate Students

1. Application forms will be available in the College Office from 15 May 2011 onwards. Anyone can collect an application form. Candidate need not be present in person to obtain an application.

2. Application may be sent by post if a stamped self-addressed envelop is sent along with a DD for Rs.350 in favour of “Principal, St Aloysius College”, payable in Mangalore,  to “Principal, St Aloysius College, P B 720, Mangalore 575 003, India”.

3. Application forms should be filled in, complete with regard to all the information asked for, in the candidate’s own handwriting.

4. The application could be registered in the College Office after May 15, 2011. Registration of the Application soon is a must to write admission test. . Applications can be registered also by post.

5. In case the marks card of the qualifying examination is not available at the time of registration of application, one may still register the application and the marks may be filled in when they are available.

6. Admission Test dates will be announced on May 15, 2011 on the day of availability of the application forms.

7. A list of provisionally selected candidates will be displayed on the Notice Board. Also, only the selected candidates will receive the interview cards. Candidates who do not attend the interview on the specified day are liable to loose the seat.

8. The candidate and at least one of the parents must be present for the interview with the Principal

9. Admitted candidates should pay the fees on the same day of the interview, else the admission stands cancelled. Admission stands cancelled if, after paying the fees, the candidate does not attend classes for four consecutive days.

10. Hostel facility both for boys and girls is available separately. Allotment of hostel seat will be done only after the provisional admission of the candidate to the College. However, you may inform the hostel director of your requirement in advance.
