Department of Journalism - Master of Communication and Media Studies
"Started in 2008. Started as a two year masters course in Mass Media or Mass Communication "M.S. Communication" Course. Then it became "M.A. in Communication". Now it is back to its unique title "MCMS" or Master of Communication and Media Studies."

| This course is unique with respect to offering up to-date syllabus. The course content is updated every year keeping in mind academic needs and professional demands of various and latest forms of mass media.

| The course has three specialisations -1) Broadcast Communication, 2) Corporate Communication, and 3) Print & New Media
Journalism.

| The Dept of Mass Communication is unique in that it has a state of the art and new Television Studio with FCP Editing facilities and a large studio.
|
| The Department is also in-charge of SARANG 107.8 FM Community Radio. Students get hands-on experience in handling the station, producing programmes, live and on-going training in RJ-ing, reporting, interviewing, recording, editing techniques.
|
| The Radio infrastructure consists of two modern & well equipped studios (with telephone hybrids for phone-ins), control rooms, RJ rooms, and other broadcast facilities.
|
| Other significant features are:
- Two internships a year - one for general and the other in the specialised stream.
- Tie-up with media companies for future placements.
- Excellent rapport with media agencies; students actively involved with the media - critiquing and contributing
- Active participation in the social life of the city
- Computer, Internet, 3-libraries (Department, PG centres, and College central library), campus television, student reporting
