St. Aloysius Gents Hostel
The St. Aloysius College Gents Hostel is a centre for living, learning and for integral growth. This Hostel is primarily a study house. While providing facilities for board and lodge for college students, the Hostel strives to create a conducive atmosphere for study, prayer and for healthy interaction among the students.

Sufficient facilities and healthy environment are provided to promote an intense ‘study culture’ to enable optimum academic performance. Many opportunities are provided to all the students to develop a healthy personality. Students in the Hostel are taught not only be mature, independent, personalities with self-respect and self-esteem, but also to respect others’ dignity, individuality and unique identity.

St. Aloysius College Gents Hostel is a microcosm. Students of the Hostel belong to various religions, cultures, languages and backgrounds. This diversity builds common life in the Hostel and promotes invaluable ‘unity in diversity’. Such a rich atmosphere enriches lives of the students and trains them to be aware of international and national diversity, to be open to others and thus transforming them into ‘citizens of the world.’

The Hostel life encourages students to move away from a selfish, self-centered, narcissistic, close-minded world-view to a selfless, other-centered, open-minded, broad-minded world-view. They learn to respect and accept the other completely, joyfully without any reservations. The students of the Hostel are given many opportunities, including the opportunity to participate in the running of the Hostel. This enables them to develop into a mature community of responsible persons, who show a keen interest in inculcating in themselves values of love, peace, justice and harmony.

Order and discipline are essential ingredients of common life in the Hostel which enables a favorable atmosphere for effective learning. Rules and regulations are designed to enhance the quality of living and learning, to aim at excellence and to promote a uniform lifestyle. The rules can be subjected to periodical revision and made more relevant to the needs of the students.

St. Aloysius College Gents Hostel is essentially a Study House, a place meant for serious academic work. It is meant only for PU, Degree and PG students studying at St. Aloysius College Institutions. The facilities provided in the Hostel suit the needs of the students engaged in intense study. It is certainly not a place for pure relaxation, fun and enjoyment. St. Aloysius College Hostel in a strict sense is not a home. Generally, in a home environment, a certain sense of casualness, informality, dispersed atmosphere, elastic timetable, regular adjustments, ‘that’s alright!’ attitudes prevail. All conveniences provided at home cannot be provided here. The Hostel does not promote a kind of ‘familial relationships’ between the Staff and the students. Those who seek admission to this hostel are urged not to expect the casual family atmosphere in the Hostel and are expected to get accustomed to a much more ordered life within the framework of a set of rules and regulations.
