PRAYER SERVICE

It was a gratifying day, a day when St.Aloysius High school recapitulated the new academic year 2010 -11. In order to invoke God’s blessings on the new academic year, and Mr.GK Bhat, Senior Teacher of SAHS along with the School choir arranged a prayer service.

Prayer may not change things for us, but it for sure changes us for things. Therefore, students and teachers participated with great adoration and devotion in the prayer service . This programme began with a yogic exercise along with the Om sutra. Later, the choir began the prayer ceremony with a hymn.

The Headmaster, Asst.Headmaster, School Pupil Leader-Sanjeeth Rodrigues and ASPL-Rishel Fernandes lit the lamp, the symbol of an auspicious beginning. It was followed by the reading of passages from the Holy Scriptures – the Bhagvadgita, the Bible and the Kuran. The solemn gathering heeded with devotion.

Later, Fr. Melvin Pinto delivered  his meaningful message.   Religion is to do right. It is to love,  to serve, to think, and  to be humble. The students offered their petitions and thanksgiving to the Lord.  Finally, the Prayer service came to an end with a special hymn sung by all the students.

March 10th, 2010: Farewell to the students of Standard X
“The difference between school and life is as follows: - In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson. The school builds you and your characteristics for your future. You have to be mentally and physically trained in the school and in the college later on.” Hence, the students of 10th standard are about to march out from the life of High School and begin an independent collegiate life. Therefore, the management and staff of St.Aloysius high school organized a passing out parade on the 10th of March 2010.
 
At around 4:30 pm all the students of 10th standard gathered on  the assembly ground. They were lined up by the teachers according to their classes . On the arrival of the chief guest, at 5.00 p.m, the students marched towards the auditorium. In the auditorium, all the boys occupied the front rows and their parents were seated at the back. Rev. Fr. Melvyn Pinto, the Headmaster escorted the chief guest Mr. Santosh Kumar. Kadri, the P.T.A. Vice President  Mrs. Cecilia Goveas and Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues SJ, the Rector  to the dais .The Master of ceremony for the evening were Mrs. Sunita D’souza and Mrs. Felcy Pinto, teachers of St.Aloysius high school.
  
The gathering was welcomed by the senior teacher of our institution Mr.Gopalkrishna Bhat. Master. Kevin Suares presented a bouquet of flowers to Mrs. Cecilia Goveas; Rev. Fr. Melvyn Pinto presented bouquet of flowers to the chief guest of the day. As the welcome speech ended at 5:30pm there was a prayer service conducted by Mr. Sarvajna Acharya & Renny Vas along with the choir club. The choir club recited some bhajans while the dignitaries lighted the lamp.
  
Nitish and Raymond Pinto, the students of 10th standard shared their experience on their High School life in St.Aloysius. It was followed, by a speech by Mrs. Cecilia Goveas. Later, Fr. Melvin Pinto shared his deep feelings and explained the values taught to the students of 10th standard and how to utilize them in their lives. Mr. Santosh Kumar kadri, the chief guest spoke to the gathering and advised the students. This was followed  by the prize distribution ceremony to the students who had been the best performers during the academic year. Subsequently, the students lit their candles and were administered a pledge of dedication and commitment by the headmaster. Thereafter, Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues advised the students to never forget the good memories in this school and bid them farewell.
  

The students received a pledge sheet and a memento with the image of St. Aloysius imprinted on it.  After this Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues  blessed the out going students. The school anthem was sung. It was a memorable moment as all eyes turned misty.  The headmaster later joined the students for a group photograph.

March 10th, 2010: Inauguration of the Student Council for 2010-2011

Democracy is a device which ensures that we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Democracy is the form of government by the people, of the people and for the people. One of the School’s in Mangalore which  follows the policy of democracy in its administration is functioning in the form of the student council at St Aloysius High School. Here we find a  replica of the Indian Parliament.

This reputed institution had its Inauguration of the Student Council for the year 2010-2011 on the 5th of March 2010, at 2.00pm in St Aloysius High School Auditorium. The Council was sworn-in   by the  Headmaster, Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, Assistant Head master Mr. Joseph D’souza and the coordinator Sri Praveen Cutinha.

The President elect Sanjeeth Rodrigues and the Council ministers were sworn-in by the Headmaster.  For the first time in the history of the school, women power was unleashed and Ms. Rishel Nikita Fernandez was elected as the Vice-President.

The programme commenced by reciting a Prayer headed by Iyona Lynn. The Function was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Francis D’ Almeida SJ, Vice Principal and Professor of Political Science in St.Aloysius College. He enlightened the  students on  Democracy and its importance and the duties and responsibilities which the cabinet has to shoulder. Later, the student council was led to the dais by the former Student council President Mr. Kevin Suares, which was followed by the Oath taking ceremony.

Thereafter, the students viewed a recording of the gala entertainment programme, “CHILI PILI” which was conducted by the Gavel club, Art club and Students Council earlier this year.

This beautiful ceremony came to an end with the distribution of sweets by Vianni D’Cunha, who had won the  1st place at the National level Chess Championship. “Unity is Strength” and team work is the most important aspect to be developed at  the school.
