Rules and Regulations
1. Since a sense of order is necessary for concentrated study, every one needs to strictly adhere to the common timetable. Timetable brings order into ones life, helps in the effective time management and promotes a fair sense of predictability and planning.

2. Absolute silence at the prescribed hours is necessary for fruitful study so that every inmate can concentrate on the work at hand. Absolute silence should be maintained within the Hostel during the following hours :

* till 7.30 a.m.

* 6.15 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

* 9.00 p.m. onwards

3. In a house of study, since one has to live with others, a common order has to be respected and followed by all the inmates. Arbitrary life style cannot promote studiousness.
 
Holy Mass & Prayer Service
1. All the Catholics students are expected to attend Mass on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the hostel while they are welcome to attend the Mass every day in the college chapel.

2. On Sundays all the Catholic students are expected to attend the Mass in the College Chapel either at 6.30 a.m. or at 8 a.m. The Catholic students of the Hostel will take up the responsibility to organize the 6.30 Mass on Sundays in the College Chapel. All the Catholic Students are also expected to join for the Rosary at 7.30 p.m. everyday.

3. All the students are expected to take part in the inter-religious prayer service on Thursdays at 7.30 p.m.

The Prayer hall is an inter-religious space. The inmates are encouraged to spend some time everyday in the Prayer Hall and relish the silence and experience the serenity.
 
Study
1. The primary purpose of the hostel is to provide an environment that is conducive for concentrated study and that helps to cultivate a life style of order, discipline and cooperation. Good habits like silence and order are necessary for a deep and fruitful intellectual work and academic accomplishment. The hours allotted for study must be effectively utilized and there should be absolute silence during study hours in the living rooms and on the corridors.

2. During the time used exclusively for study, every one is expected to be at her desk at the prescribed time. Combined study and mutual consultation has to be done in the space provided for the purpose. On Sundays and holidays, at least four hours should be devoted for personal study. Hence no one is allowed to go out till 12.00 P.M.

3. All are expected to attend the classes regularly. Prior permission from the Director/warden is to be obtained to absent oneself from the classes.

4. The wardens will visit each room regularly to ensure whether the inmate is present in the room. So the door of the room should be kept unlocked and unfastened.

Recreation and Games
5. On Fridays you are allowed to watch a movie from 8.00 pm in the TV Hall. The Director/warden has to approve the movie that is to be screened.

On Sundays and Public holidays you are allowed to watch T.V. from 2.00 P.M. to 6.00 P.M.

6. The evening games stop at 5.45 pm.

7. All the students are expected to be in the hostel by 6.00 p.m. Those who are in the college teams, athletes, and those who are involved in college activities and will be late for studies, should give a written note informing the authorities the reasons for such delay. The letter has to be countersigned by the parents and also by the concerned staff member with his or her seal.
 
Furniture & Electrical Fittings
 
8. Please inform the Warden if any repairs are necessary in your room. No one shall tamper with the electrical wiring, lights and switches.

9. Use of heaters, iron boxes, transistors, TVs and computers is not permitted.

10. The furniture should not be shifted from one room to another.

11. Willful damage to furniture or property and tampering with electrical fittings will be considered as a serious misconduct.

12. No poster of any kind is allowed to be pasted and nailed upon the walls of the room.

13. The use of personal computers would be permitted only if the subjects taken require the use of computers on the regular basis. Only the person who has been given the permission to do so can use the computer and it should not be at the disposal of others. Computer should be used only for the academic purpose and not for watching films/entertainment. If any misuse of the computer is detected the permission given will be withdrawn. Those who use the computer will have to pay annual fee of Rs.1000/- . You are forbidden to use the computer after 11.00 P.M.
 
Sickness and Precautions
14. All cases of sudden illness should be reported immediately to the Director/warden.

15. All are expected to use the mosquito net compulsorily considering the menace of Malaria in the city.
 
Leave of Absence
16. Permission should be obtained from the Director/Warden, for overnight stay outside the hostel and such permission have to obtained by filling in the prescribed form to be obtained from the Hostel office.

17. Special permission would be necessary to stay back in the hostel during the mid term holidays and during the summer vacation.

18. Students are encouraged to stay at home during the revision holidays.

19. After the final examinations are over, the inmates should vacate the rooms within 24 hours and take all their belongings along with them.

20. Every one has to hand over a spare key of her room to the Hostel office.

21. After 6 pm no one is permitted to go out of the premises without the explicit permission of the Director/warden.

22. During study hours no one is permitted to receive phone calls.

23. Hostelers are not permitted to use motorized vehicles even outside the campus. The Hostel management will not be held responsible if any tragic incident occurs.

24. Visitors including the parents and relatives are permitted to visit the hostelers only in the parlour between 4 pm to 6 pm. No visitor is allowed inside the living rooms.

25. No one, except the other inmates, Hostel officials and Employees of the hostel are permitted to go the residential space (rooms and corridors) of the hostel.

26. All should carry their identity cards with them and produce it when demanded by the hostel officials.
 
Dining Hall & Kitchen
27. No inmates should enter the kitchen without the permission of the warden and no outsiders could be taken for meals.

28. Good behaviour, courtesy and sensitivity towards others is expected from all the inmates during meals. While taking meals the inmates are expected to be patient and cooperative so that the meals served efficiently and at a faster pace.

29. All are expected to deal with the kitchen staff with due respect and courtesy.
 
Information on Fees
30. The prescribed Establishment fees is to be paid in the two installments, the first installment to be paid during the admission and the second installment in November of the academic year.

31. If someone wishes to leave the hostel during the year or is expelled from the Hostel, no claim could be made to reimburse the Establishment fee. Under no circumstances, fee once paid could be claimed back. The returnable deposit of Rs.500 will be reimbursed only after vacating the room and if any damage is done to the Hostel property, double the amount of the repairs will be claimed from the person.

32. The monthly mess bills have to be paid by the 15th of the following month. The monthly fee of the July month has to be paid by the 15th of August. If not Rs.5/- will be levied per day as fine for not paying the fee on due date. No exemption would be made on paying the fine.

33. If there are any damage done in any Block, the inmates of that particular Block will have to pay the expenses incurred for repairs and replacement.

34. The Annual Hostel Day expenses are shared equally by all the hostelers.

35. Chatting, shouting or speaking in a loud voice in the living room or in other’s rooms, on the corridors, and near the toilets is to be avoided. Any urgent conversation in the above place should be done in a low voice.

36. Visiting other rooms is to be avoided. Even if it is required to visit due to any unavoidable reasons, such visit should not be prolonged more than a minute or two.

37. No excursion or picnic should be organized by the hostelers. Neither the hosteler is permitted to participate in any excursion or picnic organized by any other party without obtaining the written request letter from the parents and permission from the Director of the Hostel.

38. It is forbidden to indulge in lending and borrowing money or other things. If someone lends or borrows money, it is at her own risk and no complaint would be entertained in this regard and the Management will not take up the duty of arbitration.

39. Safeguarding ones own personal belongings is the sole responsibility of the concerned hosteler. While the Management will take enough precautions to prevent thefts, the individual is expected to take up the responsibility of keeping safe his valuable belongings. One of the ways to prevent thefts is not to indulge in entertaining others in ones room. On such occasions, if the thief is caught, She will be dismissed from the Hostel.

40 Those who possess mobile phones could use only outside the study hours and outside the rooms. You are not allowed to wear head phones and listen to music while studying.

41. It is absolutely forbidden to go for swimming in the sea. The management will not be held responsible if any tragedy occurs as a result. Written approval from parents is required if someone wishes to go for training in swimming.

42. Accomodation during summer vacation is available only to those who attend the coaching classes at St Aloysius College. All those who enroll themselves for coaching classes during summer vacation at St Aloysius and would like to stay in the hostel are expected to inform the warden by October.
 
 Dismissal
The following anti-social elements will be dismissed from the Hostel with immediate effect and no representation will be entertained.

1. Ragging, even for fun or in a friendly way is a major criminal cognizable offence. Those who indulge in ragging or encourage others to do so, will be dismissed immediately, both from the Hostel and from the college and a official complaint to the Police will be lodged by the Management. No justification of any kind or pleading innocent on any ground, will be acceptable in this regard.

2. Those who repeatedly indulge in conflicts or are the cause of conflicts in the Hostel or outside.

3. Those who indulge in the destruction of Hostel property.

4. Those who are absent at night without prior permission and those who entertain outsiders in the living rooms.

5. Those who indulge in open defiance of the official staff and the kitchen staff.

6. Those who are caught consuming alcohol and drugs.

7. Those who indulge in physical fights and thefts.

8. Those who are suspended or dismissed from the College.
