St Aloysius holds Aloysian Fest-2024” - A National Level Undergraduate Fest

On March 16, 2024, St Aloysius, (Deemed to be University) inaugurated the highly anticipated and an exhilarating “Aloysian Fest-2024”, A National Level Undergraduate Fest, with extraordinary pomp and grandeur. This event marked a significant milestone in the institution’s illustrious 144-year history. It was a unique first such event after the college attained the status of ‘Deemed to be University’ wherein all the Post Graduate departments were hosting their annual fests simultaneously.

The fest was like a rainbow, a rendezvous of seven fests, viz, Ark of Arts by the PG Departments of Social Sciences (English, Journalism & Mass Media Communication, Corporate Psychology and Economics); Saksham by the PG Studies and Research in Social Work; Udhgam by the PG Studies and Research in Commerce; Synapse by the PG Departments of Biological Sciences (Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Food Science); Quanta by the PG Departments of Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics); Aloysiad (Sports Meet) by the Department of Physical Education; and Kalaatrividha, a cultural extravaganza.

The inauguration of the Aloysian Fest-2024 was held at L.F. Rasquinha Hall (LCRI) with the grandiose audience of students from different colleges. The program began with a prayer rendition by the college choir followed by a welcome dance. A short visual profile featured St Aloysius, Deemed to be University’s illustrious pioneering service in the field of education in Dakshina Kannada district. Dr Florin Shelomith Soans welcomed the august gathering and set the right tune for the event. The traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries rendered auspicious meaning to the assembly. The event was inaugurated formally by unveiling of ‘Aloysian Fest- 2024’ by the dignitaries.

Ms Shiny in her inaugural address encouraged the students to actively participate in the extra and co-curricular activities. She said, “Though there are so many participants, there are only a few trophies. This clearly tells us that the competitions should help us to learn in life and not just to win.” She recalled her good-old-days in the college and the various opportunities that brought out her hidden talents. She requested all the students to follow their passions in life by exploring themselves. Further she said, “Never to give up despite failures in life.”

In the presidential address Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto emphasized that the students need to appreciate others and learn from others. When we see the goodness in others and start learning from the others, we would become a better human being and the world would become a better place to live in. The vice chancellor Rev. Fr Praveen Martis SJ, invited everyone to carry home the wonderful memories of the fest and the campus. He applauded the staff and the student organisers for planning meticulously for the success of the Aloysian Fest-2024.
